Tomoe is a language made for light scenography shaped by elements of Japanese visual culture. The title originates from the Japanese word wind. The beauty of Japanese aesthetics relies on a variation of shadows and values; all that is simple and unpretentious. Supporting this idea, the principle of Japanese wabi-sabi culture is accepting transience and respecting the surroundings instead of dominating them.
Through the natural movements of haze and wind, the volumetric projection will take an imperfect asymmetrical form above the heads of the audience. At the same time, they can also gain insight into Japanese visual culture. The light scenography will not only aid visitors in enjoying the music and the symbiosis of haze and light but also will take a contemporary turn on Japanese ideals and create a scene where the audienc can maintain a keen interest in manipulating the light with nature.
presented at Dekmanel Connects (2020), LenteKabinet (2022.2023), Modular (2022), Darc (2022)
